Croissy-Thoiry Tournoi Féminin de Cricket 2019
19-20 January 2019
The inaugural indoor Croissy-Thoiry Tournoi Féminin de Cricket 2019 was held this weekend with teams Croissy-Thoiry Cricket Club (CTCC), Nantes Cricket Club (NCC), Royal Brussels Cricket Club (RBCC) and Ile de France Cricket Club (IdF) competing.
The teams were made up of a mixed ability of beginners and experienced players with the goal of the tournament being to give developing players a chance to experience a match situation and encourage some competition, with 9-over innings.
Day 1 started with some training exercises, with all teams mixed together, led by CTCC and volunteer coaches from Thoiry and Nantes. The tournament then kicked off with all teams playing IdF. IdF showed a strong fielding team with some excellent bowling, resulting in a win against NCC. The first matches showed that the standard of cricket was high and that the tournament would be close!
Day 2 started with a training match for all development players from CTCC, RBCC and NCC. This was a great opportunity for new players to improve their match awareness and learn from the tips given by the volunteer coaches during the match.
The day continued with the remaining tournament matches. The title match happened to be the final match of the day between CTCC and RBCC who both started with 2 wins each. CTCC ultimately won the trophy with tight fielding to defend their score of 39, keeping RBCC to 35.
CTCC Captain Thea Graham said “We were excited to welcome the 3 visiting teams to Croissy-sur-Seine for our inaugural indoor tournament. All teams showed impressive skill and a great attitude towards all the matches.
Thank you to all the volunteers and players who helped to make this tournament a success, we’re looking forward to the next tournament and more great competition!”
